O Level Physics Tuition Centre Singapore

At Path Finder Tuition, we focus on helping students to achieve a good
understanding of Physics through activities, practices and videos to teach and
show the concept applied in the practical world. The Physics syllabus consists
of several topics and we aim to break it down to consumable pieces for our students
to grasp and apply in the examinations. We specialise in JC H2 physics and O level physics tuition classes

Testimonies of our Secondary Physics Students

Sec 4 Pure Physics, Class of 2019
Mr Leon is an extremely patient and nice teacher who never failed to answer my queries whenever i texted him. He also targets the main points and narrows down selective questions that often tend to appear in the past exam papers which really helped. I really am extremely thankful for Mr Leon for helping me jump 5 grades within only half a year of tuition!

Sec 3 Pure Physics, Class of 2021
Mr Leon has great teaching experience and a very thoughtful teacher who puts a lot of thought into how he presents his material that my daughter till today refers to his quality materials from time to time for her exams revision. His lessons were engaging, useful and very patient and encouraging with my daughter. He paces the class just right so that my daughter feels challenged enough but not overwhelmed. His lessons engages the student to respond in a fun way and thereby promotes faster learning. He is especially patient and eager to help and that has motivated my daughter to improve tremendously thereby doing well in her exams last year despite the odds of missing a lot in school due to some health issue. And as a parent, I am indeed fortunate to have found his class online and would highly recommend him for his passion and dedication is beyond words.

JC 2 Physics, Class of 2019
Leon is a very professional and patience teacher. He will explain concepts in details which is very important for my daughter to conquer her physics questions. My daughter scored A for her A level. She was not confident at the beginning of JC1. Thks Leon. She's awarded scholarship with SUTD now.

JC 2 Physics, Class of 2019
Leon helped me to realise the gaps in my understanding and was extremely open to consultations whenever I needed them. He was the only reason why I could consistently be getting my As throughout year 6.

JC 2 Physics, Class of 2021
Approached Leon late in April 2021 for Physics tuition to my nephew whose result has been poor since JC1. Only 6-month's and my nephew got a sterling 'A'…grateful for Leon's personal guidance and patience and keeping me informed when he identified issues beyond academic scope. Positive: Sincere, Attentive and Dedicated.

Sign Up For Secondary
Level

Learning Physics at the ‘O’ / ‘N’ level exposes students to the occurrences in the physical world around them. The syllabus aims to equip students with the knowledge to explain and account for events that occur in the real world in a qualitative and quantitative manner.

Key Highlights of our Secondary Physics Classes

Simplification Of Content

As the contents are abstract, the lessons are structured to simplify the concepts and teachings with relevant examples for ease of understanding.

Qualitative Answering Technique

The know-how to tackling explanation questions would be explained with a comprehensive structure, breaking them down with clear pointers to follow.

Detailed Summary Notes

Content is being summarised to give the key ideas in each chapter. Notes will also include worked example with a step-by-step guide to enhance understanding of each lesson.

How do we come in?

Each Physics lesson will be taught with the following key areas of focus

Knowledge Acquisition

Information related to topic of interest is delivered in the class with a mixture of practice questions in between to grasp basic understanding of each topic.

Knowledge Application

Concepts taught would be discuss during the class in the form of pictures/videos to spark greater interest in the topic involved.

Knowledge Mastery

We conduct bi-monthly revision of past topics with a summary of key concepts and revision practices.

Why Choose Us For O Level Physics Tuition?

Learning Physics at the Secondary level equips students with the knowledge to explain and account for events that occur in the real world in a qualitative and quantitative manner, through the use of theories, formulas and calculations.

A total of 5 branches of Physics is taught in the ‘O’ level syllabus. Of which, 4 are covered under the Combined Science ‘N’ level syllabus.

General Physics

Topics covered includes physical measurements, describing and explaining changes in motion in terms of force and energy. This forms the foundation of the remaining topics in Physics.

Thermal Physics

The concept of heat and how it can flow between objects with different temperatures is explained in this part of Physics. Expanding further in the Pure Physics syllabus, students would also learn how to quantify the energy transferred when temperature changes or state changes.

Waves

Understanding how periodic motion can be caused by oscillating sources. Students will learn to describe and explain daily phenomena such as water waves and the production of sound through vibrating sources. For the ‘O’ level syllabus, the ray model of light and its application would also be introduced.

Electricity and its Application

The understanding of the accumulation of charge, the basic quantities used to describe an electrical circuit and how to measure them would be introduced. Students will learn to quantify the energy needed for an appliance to work and learn the possible arrangement in the circuit with or without safety features.

Magnetism and
Electromagnetism (‘O’ level only)

The relationship between Magnetism and Electricity would be discussed in this branch of Physics. The generation of electricity through induction would only be discussed in the Pure Physics syllabus. At ‘O’ level, the use of formulas to make quantitative calculations involving Magnetism is not expected. However, students should be able to describe the factors that could affect the strength of the magnetic field created by electricity and its effect.

Thermal Physics

The concept of heat and how it can flow between objects with different temperatures is explained in this part of Physics. Expanding further in the Pure Physics syllabus, students would also learn how to quantify the energy transferred when temperature changes or state changes.

Measurement

This is the foundation of Physics. Students will learn to appreciate the use of uncertainties in physical measurements and be able to make approximation in real life.

Newtonian Mechanics

This includes an explanation of motion in topics such as Kinematics, Dynamics and Energy. The basic concepts are further extended to understand objects in Circular Motion and the effect of Gravitational Field on masses.

Thermal Physics

Thermal physics include the introduction of absolute temperature scale and the kinetic theory of ideal gases, which is branched out into engineering application using the 1st law of Thermodynamics. At the end of this part, students should be able to appreciate how thermal energy is utilised in real-life application such as engine and refrigeration.

Oscillation and Waves

This section touches on the study of Simple Harmonic Motion as an example of Mechanical Oscillation. Advanced knowledge on the energy of waves and the effect due to the interaction of several waves through the principle of superposition is also introduced.

Electricity and Magnetism

A quantitative approach to analysing electrical circuits, forces due to magnetic field and the production of electrical energy through electromagnetic induction is introduced in this part. This is an extension to what was taught previously in Secondary school, where more formulae are introduced.

Modern Physics

The study of Quantum and Nuclear Physics would form the final section of Physics at the ‘A’ Level. Students would be learning an alternative theory to explain the behaviour of light through the use of the Photoelectric effect experiment. Nuclear Physics, on the other hand, provides a glimpse of how nuclear fusion and fission processes release energy which can be applied and vital to the energy production of an electrical power plant.
